Answer:

Yes, if the spouse / significant other / relative / friend is also a DePaul student, faculty, staff, or alumnus.

Proxy patron privileges are reserved primarily for DePaul faculty who need library services and support for their scholarship, curriculum, or instruction. Designated proxies must also be a part of the DePaul community (i.e., students, faculty, staff or alumni) and are typically research assistants, academic department office assistants, or colleagues within their unit.

To request that an individual be designated as your proxy, send a message to libnotice@depaul.edu from your DePaul University email account. Please include:

  • Your full name and 7-digit DePaul ID number
  • Proxy's full name and 7-digit DePaul ID number
  • Date privilege should expire

We will only make an exception to authorize a non-DePaul community member as a proxy in instances where a documented health or disability reason is provided that would warrant an accommodation. This clarification in the policy more readily aligns with security protocols and keeps the Library in compliance with the University's policy that a DePaul ID card is non-transferable and should only be utilized by the cardholder to whom it was issued. (See fine print located on the back of your ID card.)
